Deep appreciation goes to the various techs who donated countless hours researching then creating these programs ... Jagged Alliance 3 plus Jagged Alliance 3D. Read all the details here Timeframes for release have been estimated at 2.5 to 3 years so maybe in time for Christmas 2006. What sort of Jagged Alliance is likely to emerge ? .... Check Strategy First's own dedicated Jagged Alliance 3 forum frequented regularly by none other than SF's vice president Richard Therrien so they must be serious. Strategy First's JA3 forum is here So are these 2 titles going to comprise a large stand alone single player game (Jagged Alliance 3) then a smaller stand alone game with multiplayer, map-mission editor & tools similar to Jagged Alliance Unfinished Business & Deadly Games (Jagged Alliance 3D)?. Some serious questions are .... 1. Why didn't Strategy First continue using former Sirtech team members who spent over a year on development & research with a JA3 prototype. They have experience, a track record plus excel in dark wise ass humor which has been a hallmark of the series. 2. What sort of game will Mistlands end up creating? Will they use an overall concept planned by Ian & Linda Currie - Chris Camfield for JA3 as an official follow on for the series or start with a new idea? 3. Are any former Sir Tech staff going to be involved and in what capacity ? We are sure to get bits n peices of information along the way but the best news is .... there are likely to be new generation Jagged Alliance games on the shelves eventually. (Bearpit, June 10, 2004)Show all news JA2 Wants You! Work on the most complete make-over of our good old Jagged Alliance 2 (beside UC, that is) has begun. Thanks to the source code being made public by Strategy First, a team of the best JA2 programmers have united under a common goal - to make JA2 moddable. The project has attracted a massive interest and the team is growing larger by the day. We've started to get things organized, setting up a CVS, walking the code, dividing the tasks. If you feel up to it and you know C, we have a free white hat for you and a friendly welcome. If we pull this off, we can finally have unlimited mods, multiplayer and anything you've ever dreamed of regarding JA2. JA2 Wants You Now! Join "Project Source Code" today! (Shanga, March 15, 2004)Show all news JA2 source code to be released! According to a news report published by the German magazine "PC Games" and Avault, Strategy First will release the source code for "Jagged Alliance 2" together with "JA2 Wildfire" expansion due this spring. To quote Chris Camfield, the former Gameplay Programmer of Sirtech, it's a "pretty cool move" on SFi's part. Also according to Chris, the sources are written in C, which made a couple of Bear's Pit natives very-very happy. If confirmed and materialized, the move would bolt JA2's place into the "All Times Gaming Hall of Fame", together with an esquisite crowd (Doom, Panzer General and a few others) of oldies but goldies. And the ensuing user modifications will keep the interest alive just enough for SFi to develop the sequel to this great game, namely JA3. We can asssume that the decision to pack the source code with "JA2:Wildfire" was partly due to the huge success "JA2:Urban Chaos" (free) usermade mod has had. Only this kind of move could've matched JA2UC's popularity. And only this move could've made the MOD Squad happier than ever. Afterall, in the end, everyone will get what they want. The modders - their much wanted source code. SFi, the respect of the Jagged Alliance community and some nice sales.
